Terms and conditions

  • Stories of Sea Country is a targeted program in which a cultural education organisation is partnered with a school. It is an invite-only program coordinated by PeeKdesigns. No fees are charged to schools who participate.

    Schools will be chosen by the cultural education organisation from within their geographical boundaries along the NSW coast.

    By submitting their story as part of this program, schools agree to these Terms and Conditions. The supplied entry form must be completed upon submission. 

    All efforts will be made to provide appropriate acknowledgement of the author(s) whenever the books are used for the purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions.

    Submitted stories will not be returned to the school, unless by prior arrangement. It is recommended to make a back-up or photocopy of the entry before it is submitted.

    Teachers are encouraged to make parents aware of their child’s participation in this program and these Terms and Conditions in case they wish their child to opt-out of being involved.

  • Stories of Sea Country books are A4 in size and 20 pages long (16 minimum), or as defined by the individual program. This includes a separate cover/title page.

    Illustrations can be hand drawings, paintings, collage or photos and must be originals that have been supplied by the school. Clip-art computer images will not be accepted unless the artwork has been created by the entrant or by prior arrangement with the Program Coordinator. PeeKdesigns and the partner organisations retain the right to use any illustrations and photographs entered in the program for ongoing non-commercial promotional and educational purposes in any media without notice and without any fee paid to the school. It is the responsibility of the school to ensure that all illustrations and photographs submitted have relevant permission to publish, and its use by PeeKdesigns and the partner organisations will not be in breach of any third party intellectual property rights.

    Text can be either typed or hand written into the Story Template, so long as it is clear and legible. Illustrations can be supplied using the template or on an A4 sheet of paper in a portrait layout (tall and narrow). 

    Stories must be entirely the students’ own work and adhere to the Sea Country theme.

  • The school may be required by the partner organisations or PeeKdesigns to participate in a photo, voice over and/or video session and acknowledge that the aforementioned organisations reserve the right to use such publicity photos, sound bytes and/or videos in any medium and in any reasonable manner it sees fit.

    Where a photograph is included as part of the program and includes the image of a person other than the students involved in the program, then the school warrants that he or she has obtained all necessary permissions from that other person (or in the case of a child, that child’s parents or lawful guardian) for the image to be used in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

    By participating in the program, the school and/or their representative(s) consent to the use of the their name(s), school name, photograph, voice and/or image for any publicity and marketing purposes, commercial or otherwise, in all media used by the partner organisations, PeeKdesigns and their respective advertising and promotional agencies, without payment or compensation, throughout the world in perpetuity.

  • The primary sponsor (NSW Government) has the right to share and promote the program at its own discretion.

  • The partnering cultural education organisation retains Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) on all cultural content shared with the school participating in the program. They retain the right not to share their ICIP outside of the program.

    The partner organisation will retain copyright for all content submitted in the program. Students will be acknowledged as the authors and illustrators of the content. 

    As copyright holders, the partner organisation has the right to print and distribute the results of the program to the wider public at their own leisure.

    The partner organisation reserves the right to use all text and images entered in the program for publishing purposes and for on-going non-commercial promotional and educational purposes to improve awareness and understanding of natural resource or cultural issues in their region. This may include display on the partner organisation’s internet sites, in a public exhibition or other means.

    The partner organisation reserves the right to modify text and images of the entries for publishing purposes. Text may be altered for story consistency, technical content, word/page length and grammar. Images may be manipulated and enhanced to increase the quality of the resource. All effort is made to keep the integrity of the original story.

    The partner organisation reserves the right to substitute, terminate, withdraw, suspend or cancel any portion of the program, at any time, so long at it is done so in consultation with the program owners, PeeKdesigns.

    These Terms and Conditions may be changed at any time by the partner organisation or PeeKdesigns without notice.

  • Stories of Sea Country is an initiative that builds upon the success and foundation of the long-running Enviro-Stories program by PeeKdesigns.

    PeeKdesigns is the intellectual property and copyright holder for the Stories of Sea Country program and education materials produced as part of running the program. Replication of the program materials for commercial purposes without written permission is prohibited. Replication of the program materials for educational purposes needs to be accompanied with acknowledgement to PeeKdesigns.

    PeeKdesigns reserves the right to use all text and images entered in the program for on-going non-commercial promotional and educational purposes in any media without notice and without any fee paid to the school.
